Gaastra PalmaVela 2016, Day One

Palma de Mallorca, 5 May 2016

Day One of Gaastra PalmaVela 2016: sunshine and blue skies welcome the fleet racing today in the waters off Palma. Early this morning 30 boats raised the curtain on what promises to be a busy and exciting 2016 Mediterranean season. 11 Wallys, 3 Maxis, 9 TP52s and 7 IRC boats are racing todat. One of the most impressive on the water today will be the Dutch flagged J Class Lionheart which returns to race on the Bay of Palma.

All the boats will race on the Charlie course which is set in the middle of the Bay of Palma. Feedback from the Race area this morning suggests there may be a slight delay as the breeze settles.

Meantime the RCNP awaits this afternoon’s post racing crowds before the fun moves to the Puro Hotel this evening.
